How Did Al Sharpton Lose 176 Lbs?

Al Sharpton’s transformation from 305 lbs. to 129 lbs. can be termed “amazing” considering the fact that he managed to lose an astounding amount of weight merely through diet changes and exercise, without any kind of surgery. The amazing fact is that Al Sharpton claims he no longer craves the food he gave up for weight loss, including food such as fried chicken that he relished in the past.

He claims he was literally addicted to fried chicken and would have it with all of his meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, he says that after a mere three to four weeks of his weight loss program, he no longer had a longing for this food he had loved the most. Apart from diet changes, he also added exercise to his weight loss regimen and walked on the treadmill for 20 to 30 minutes, five days a week. He explained that his objective for exercise was to tone up as he was looking to stay active and keep the blood flowing.

So, what was the turning point for him? According to Al Sharpton, it was in the year 2006, when his youngest daughter pointed out to his weight and asked him why he was so fat. A typical breakfast for the formerly fried-chicken-loving Al Sharpton is now three slices of whole wheat toast with a Juice Press “Doctor Earth” green juice and stevia-sweetened English breakfast tea.

As for lunch, it is now a salad comprising two or three hard boiled eggs, onions, cucumber, tomatoes, and lettuce along with balsamic vinaigrette dressing, a banana, and tea. As for dinner, it is Juice Press watermelon-flavor juice, along with toast if he feels like having it. However, on his doctor’s advice, he adds a small serving of fish on the weekend to keep up his protein intake.

Al Sharpton makes it clear that the key to weight loss and maintaining his new weight is determination more than anything else. This can be best understood from the fact that he has no plans of introducing any changes to his new lifestyle since he is enjoying his weight loss and the bliss it has brought him.

When asked regarding the best thing about his weight loss, he said it was the focus and energy his weight loss had brought. This renewed vigor makes him feel totally in charge of himself. His new weight has also enabled him to buy himself a new wardrobe and afforded him the opportunity to wear clothes he previously could not, owing to his weight.
