Where Does Lonely Planet Think You Should Take Your Next Relaxing Vacation?

Relaxing Vacation in Riviera NayaritIf you’ve been staring at your computer screen, dreaming of your next relaxing vacation when you have the chance to travel again, you might find yourself on the Lonely Planet website.  The popular travel guide is always a solid source of information for people who want a unique trip both on and off the beaten trail.

Should You Head to the Riviera Nayarit on Your Next Relaxing Vacation?

The Lonely Planet points to the Riviera Nayarit as a fantastic relaxing vacation destination for many reasons. Primarily, it calls this small part of the country a reflection of many of the things that make Mexico a lovely place to visit.  From the food to the beaches, from the friendly towns to the mezcal, it has everything you need to feel like you’re traveling somewhere wonderful.

Furthermore, it also pointed out that the Riviera Nayarit’s highway system is a good one.  Whether you’re staying in a luxury villa rental nestled in a low-tourism area or you’re taking a road trip right through the Mexican Pacific, it has a great highway along the coast that will take you everywhere you need to go.

What Makes This Part of Mexico Special?

The Riviera Nayarit has only recently been discovered by tourists.  Until not too long ago, it consisted of primarily locals and the occasional savvy visitor.  That said, even though more tourists are discovering this place, it has managed to hold onto its authenticity. It has stayed friendly, safe and truly unique.

When you visit, it’s easy to feel completely at home whether you’re heading into one of the cities such as San Blas, or a much smaller coastal town such as San Pancho (also called San Francisco).  Soon after your arrival, you start to sink into the slower rhythm of life. The stress eases away and before you know it, you’re having the most relaxing vacation you’ve ever taken.

When Should You Visit the Riviera Nayarit?

Though the Riviera Nayarit makes for a great relaxing vacation destination year-round, the Lonely Planet has its preferences.  According to the guide, the majority (though not all) of the events and festivals take place from November to April.  This is because some parts of the region get quite hot during the summer months.  That said, if you’re looking to enjoy the heat and love spending time in the water and surfing, then you’ll be pleased with your trip no matter when you visit.
